Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park is located in South Western Uganda, on the edge of the Western Rift Valley.  Bwindi is home to over half of the Mountain Gorillas in the world.  There area more than 360 gorillas found here.  Visitors from every corner of the globe come here for the Ultimate Ugandan Safari - Gorilla tracking (trekking) at Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.  But there is much more here than the rare Mountain Gorillas of Uganda, there are around 350 kinds of Birds found here at Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, over 200 different species of butterflies

Day One:  Leave Kampala at an early hour for Bwindi which is a 9 hour to 10 hour drive depending on conditions.  Drive toward Bwindi and stop to take lunch at Mbarara, bottled water included on journey, lunch is also included, drinks with meals are not covereExperience Uganda Birding Safarid.

Arrive at your lodging during late afternoon and check-in.  Dinner at the lodging which can be Lodge, tented camp, hotel, or bandas (cabins) depending on choice and availability.

Day Two:  Have an early breakfast and be at Bwindi headquarters for orientation and meeting with guides.  Off it is for the Mountain Gorilla tracking (trekking) experience which can be quite rigorous.  The forest has many special trees unique to it, there are other mammals, bird and butterflies and of course the views are breathtaking.  The tracking (trekking) experience can be from a few hours to all day, but always rewarding.  You will get within 5 meters of the gorillas and quietly observe them.

Afterwards it is a return to headquarters depending on time and your energy level a village walk, where you will see traditional ways, from brewing of beer to remedies made from the forest.  There will be some dancing and entertaining and it is certainly worth your while.

Day Three:  Early morning breakfast and off we are on a day of birding in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in the in the Ruhija section.  Ruhija itself, is simply a beautiful place, higher up than Buhoma, a view into Rwanda that is most astounding and fantastic birding.  We take the Mubwindi Swamp Trail and it goes through an area where Elephants where one would find Elephants.  In regards to birds the area has 20 bird species listed in the Red Data Book, birds such as African Green Broadbill and Grauer's Rush Warbler.  You will also find  Short Tailed Warbler, Rwenzori Turacco, Purple Breasted Sunbird, Regal Sunbird, Kivu Ground Thrush, Montane Masked Apalis, Red Faced Woodland Warbler, Olive Green Camaroptera, Handsome Francolin, Blue Headed Sunbird, Rwenzori Nightjar, Lagden's Bush Shrike, Oriole Finch, Streaky Seed Eater, Chubb's Cisticola, Barred Long Tailed Cuckoo, Brown Capped Weaver, Waller's Starling to name a few.

Depending on time left and birds seen we will take a second trail with more birding opportunities.

We will be eating out picnic lunch as we bird for the day and hopefully once again it will be an enriching experience.  As we drive back to the lodging we continue to be on the lookout for more birds.

Dinner at your lodging and a well deserved rest.

Day Four:  Early morning breakfast and another full day of birding for us.  We will be taking an all day in the Buhoma area birding, even outside of the park where lots of different species are found such as Great Blue and Black Billed Turacos, Dusky and Barred Long-Tailed Cuckoos, Bar-Tailed Trogon, Black Bee-eater, Grey-Throated Barbet, Petit, Cuckoo-Shrike, Elliot's Woodpecker, Red Tailed Bulbul as a starter.  Enjoy your day. It will be most rewarding. Return to the lodging facility and have dinner and rest.

Day Five:  It is breakfast-Checkout afterwards and a journey back to Kampala, on the way we stop at Masaka for lunch, back toward Kampala stopping at Nabusanke Trading Center where you can stand on the equator, also buy some souvenirs and crafts then on to Mpambire where you can observe the Buganda Royal Drum Makers and even buy a few, back on our homeward journey where we arrive in Kampala in the late afternoon.
