Nshongi Gorilla Group:  Is the largest Gorilla group that has ever been habituated - habituated meaning that they are used to humans.  At one time it had 35 family members- now there are 25 after a family feud and 10 departed under the leadership of the silverback -Mishaya. It is located in the Rushaga area in south-western region of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.  They are named after the Nshongi River that flows through the area.

The launch of this group was celebrated by Uganda Wildlife Authority brining in celebrities and the gorillas themselves became stars to the Fiend of  a Gorilla program that was launched at the same time.

The group is generally healthy with some injuries at times from skirmished.
