Wetland Birding, Primate Safari in Uganda
Kabiza Wilderness Safaris Ltd.
Uganda Quality
Safaris without Compromise
Day 1:
The morning
starts early as we begin our 5 day Uganda Safari. We
begin our journey northward to Murchison Falls National
Park through Masindi. Before Masindi there is
the option of adding on the
Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary,
a large preserve where Rhinos are bred in an effort
to restock Murchison Falls National Park with Rhinos
(the last one was shot in 1982).
As we enter the park we go the top of the falls that
make Murchison Falls National Park so famous.
This is a place for most memorable pictures and a taking
in of the sounds and sights, including the ever present
rainbow created by the mist of the falls.
The river is
50 meters wide and goes through a 7 meter wide gorge
plunging down 45 meters creating a roaring sound that
will stay with you. Something you will never forget
and there is something about standing alongside the
mighty River Nile.
We check in
at the
accommodations that you selected
choosing from budget, moderate or up-market.
After some refreshments we take the late afternoon game drive
viewing some of the best wildlife and birds in Uganda.
(recommended Budget - Global Village Guest House, Up Market on lower end Paraa
Lodge)
Murchison Falls
Park is simply fabulous. Lions, Elephants, Antelopes
such as Uganda Kob, Giraffes, Buffaloes all there as
you move through the savannah landscape. Take it
all in, it is most wonderful and literally awesome.
Afterwards it
is dinner at your place of lodging and a well deserved
rest.
Day 2: Early morning
breakfast and off for the morning game drive where you
will see more and new animals and birds as you travel
along Lake Albert and through the savannah. You
will be simply glad that you came here and hate to return
to the lodging facility for rest and lunch.
After lunch
it is off to one of the major highlights of Murchison
Falls National Park, motorized boat ride on the Nile
to view the crocodiles, the many hippos along the bank
and in the river, the birds, monkeys, buffaloes, elephants
and so much more and of course the bottom of the falls.
This is a three hour trip and it is best to wear a hat
and lots of lotion. Use some insect repellent
to avoid being bitten by Tsetse flies.
Dinner at lodging
and rest for the night.
Day 3:
Breakfast early
and we move on to Kibale Forest, driving to some beautiful
countryside which is a bonus along the way. Lunch
along the journey and of course we provide drinking
Water while in the vehicle as we travel.
We reach Fort Portal area where you can
stay either at
budget, moderate or up-scale lodging
facilities as you have selected. We
check in and have dinner and rest for the night after
a
long day of travel. Recommended for the experience ( Chimps' Nest Tree House in
the jungle)
Day 4:
Early Breakfast
and leave the lodging for chimpanzee tracking (trekking).
Other primates that may be observed are Red tailed monkeys,
L’Hoest's Monkeys and lots of Baboons. This is a fabulous
forest that you will absolutely love, imagine an African
Rainforest filled with wildlife and primates, exotic
plants and trees, butterflies, birds in abundance and
you are in it.
After lunch
go to Bigodi Wetland Swamp viewing the various birds
and mammals that we find up to early evening before
returning to your accommodation for dinner.
Option: An all day Chimpanzee
Habituation Experience can be scheduled so that you are with the chimpanzees all
day long and we either do Bigodi Wetlands on last day or drop it.
Nocturnal Forest Walk in the
Jungle...another highlight of your Kibale Forest Experience. Guided forest
walk with spotlights to visit the creatures of the night in the Jungle.
Bushbabies and Pottos are usually spotted amongst others.
Day 5:
Leave after breakfast for Kampala lunch along the way.
We arrive in the early evening in Kampala. Five days
of Uganda Safari taking in some of the best Uganda has
to offer of Murchison Falls National Park and Kibale
Forest. (Depending on airport departure time, another activity can usually
be scheduled for you at Kibale Forest.)
