visitors to Uganda, it is certainly most rewarding.
Elephants, at times Lions, Buffaloes, hippos frolicking the

the shore, especially just below the falls where they are on
a sandbank waiting for some morsel to tumble down the falls.
At the bottom of the falls, an
experience in itself. You disembark and take a guided
hike up the side of the falls. You will feel the spray
of the powerful falls on you and it was quite an exciting
climb up. On top, take a breather and look around.

the falls and get pictures of the rainbow that is always
there.

different types of primates. Then there is the forest

exotic birds abound in this park and the tracking experience
takes in a lot more than Chimpanzee tracking, there is the
beautiful and inspiring natural setting that is haven for
wildlife, birds, plants and trees.
The chimpanzees you will encounter
are habituated meaning that they are used to human beings.
Not all chimpanzees in the park are habituated. The
process takes up to two years.

Afternoon Walk at Bigodi Swamp
Wetlands which is next to Kibale Forest and you just might
see chimpanzees again and of course lots of birds are found
there including the Shoebill Stork. Kibale Forest is
also home to Forest Elephants who are hairier and smaller
than their savannah cousins. They also have smaller
tusks which allows them to roam the forests.
You can also find Forest Buffaloes which are redder in color
than the ones on the savannah.
Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary is a
community project that has been put together quite well and
entrance and guide fees benefit the local community.
Dinner at the Kibale Forest Tented

is simply an awesome experience. You are guided
through Kibale Forest by Uganda

found with their big eyes and other nocturnal animals.

jungle at Kibale Forest Tented Camp. Then off for a
village walk, where you get to meet school children, a
village elder and story teller, someone we call mzee here.
A traditional healer, local women preparing food in
traditional ways including the making of local brews and
local waragi, which is gin and comes from the word war gin.
You might also see some coffee spirit being made, a unique
alcoholic drink that most tourists never discover. You
can only find it in little shops, it is 70 percent proof,
tastes sweet and like coffee. Near Kibale a lot of
coffee is grown. Coffee of the Robusta type grows
naturally in the jungles here. Robusta is used in
caffeine drinks, instant coffee and also in the local Coffee
Spirit.
Enjoy the morning.
