Large Group Safaris in Uganda
Taking a large group on Safari in Uganda
How do you take a large group on a Safari in
Uganda?
Visitors to Uganda do not come in twos or threes -
they come in groups of 10, 15 or more. How does one take them on a
safari to places such as Murchison Falls National Park or Queen
Elizabeth National Park. Larger groups mean a reduction in price,
especially if you use a bus, what most however is prefer is move via
safari vans.
What kinds of visitors to Uganda go on a large
group safari?
-
Short-Term Volunteer Groups:
Medical Teams, Teaching Teams, Building Teams, and more.
-
Short-Term Missions Groups: That
makes up the largest part of teams to Uganda.
-
Conference Delegates to Uganda:
Every imaginable conference takes place in Uganda and a safari trip
for such a group is the perfect topping to a visit to Uganda.
-
Corporate Teams doing Business in Uganda:
More and more groups are here to work up with their Ugandan
counterparts and often a safari is included in the visit.
Taking a large group on Safari:
-
Best Option: Take several Safari Vans and stay
at the same lodging at the Park Destination you have chosen.
That is the best way and preserves the intimacy of a safari.
Six can easily go into a safari van and in some cases 7 or 8, if you
have 24 you simply have three vans drive in a sort of convoy to your
chosen National Park Destination, or you can choose 6 to a van and
have 6 vans. For game drives each van would have a wildlife
expert on board to make you aware of wildlife, birds, plants and
trees in the park.
-
Use a 28 some Passenger Bus:
Many have gone via this mode of transportation and have had a great
time on their safari. Everyone is together, the bus is high up
and allows for maximum wildlife viewing. The windows open wide
and picture taking is not hampered at all. People can move
around from side to side and everyone is together. We use a 4
wheel drive bus for extra safety for clients. Money is saved
since you are using only one vehicle and one driver and one Wildlife
expert on board. We recommend that on game drives in parks you do not have
more than 14 passengers in order to allow for free movement.
Lodging for large groups: There can
certainly a savings if one makes wise choices such as.
-
3 to a room: Even in up-market settings
this will save from 30 usd a room on up. In a budget facility
it might be somewhat less with three to a room in twin beds and self
contained rooms.
-
Use Backpacker Rooms or Tents with shared
facilities: Shared facilities but the price even with full
board it is a lot less than private rooms with bath. It can
arranged in such a way that only members of the groups. Such
facilities are not available in all parks.
Full Board or not for a large Group?
-
Some Accommodations automatically come with
breakfast, others do not.
-
In some cases full-board means added value for
you and there is no alternative as is with some up-market lodgings.
-
In a few cases-paying for your own food comes
out lower - most Safari companies will give you the right advice
Where to go on a large Group Safari?
-
1 Day Wildlife Safari: The choice would
of course be Lake Mburo - 3 1/2 hours from Kampala and the perfect
for a one day Mini Safari into the wild of Uganda. Chimp
Tracking at Budongo Forest is another choice for a one day group
safari, but special bookings have to be made to get all members
included into a chimp tracking group.
-
2 Day Wildlife Safari: Lake Mburo,
Murchison Falls are the two logical choices. The overnight
cost is lower for better lodging at Murchison Falls. Chimp
tracking can be included at Murchison Falls.
-
3 Day Wildlife Safari: Murchison
Falls Wildlife and Chimp Tracking Safari. Queen Elizabeth
National Park with wildlife and Chimp tracking. Kibale Forest
Jungle Chimpanzee Tracking, nocturnal walk in the forest and a swamp
walk with mammals, primates, and birds. 3 day Gorilla Tracking
Safari to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest (depending on Gorilla permits).
-
5 day Gorilla and Wildlife Safari:
Gorilla Tracking and Wildlife, Wildlife and Chimpanzee Tracking,
Rafting and Wildlife at Murchison Falls.
Those are just a few possibilities - lots
more...just ask
