Jinja the Adventure Capital of East Africa

Jinja - Uganda - The Adventure Capital of East Africa

Jinja - Background Information on the Adventure Capital of Uganda:

Jinja - one of the Best Known towns in Uganda.

Jinja - The Adventure Capital of East AfricaIf you ask anyone to name 3 towns in Uganda, Jinja will most likely be one of them.  It is the capital town of the Busoga Kingdom and its people.  It once was one of the Industrial centers of Uganda but in the early 1990's the Indian population was expelled from Uganda and from Jinja and it has gone through many changes since then.

Today Jinja is the Adventure Capital of Uganda - White Water Rafting - the best in the world is found here  - Kayaking like no other place in the world, Sport Fishing, Bungee Jumping, All Terrain Vehicle Safari adventures along the Nile and Horseback Riding are just of a few things that people come here to do.

Jinja, is a place that most visitors to Uganda come and visit, either to participate in one of the many activities, of which White Water rafting is the number one to visiting the source of the Nile, strolling to this seemingly sleepy African town which in population is a respectable 100,000.

Jinja is quite different from Kampala with its hustle and bustle, with its traffic jams, busy markets and thousands of Boda-Boda Motorcycles and Taxi Mini-Vans.  Jinja is a place where you get out and stroll around main street and take in a typical African town.

Drive through the side streets and find the architecture of the Indian Community that used to live here until they were expelled by Idi Amin and often nearby you will find old colonial homes, some have been restored.  Jinja was the a thriving town and slowly it is regaining its luster, but today much is because of the thousands who venture here to do and see Jinja, the source of the Nile, Bujagali Falls, and many other of sights and sounds to be found here in Jinja.

Jinja-is certainly a town to be included into a visit to Uganda - visiting the Source of the White Nile - have a meal along its shores, take a Boat Ride into Lake Victoria, visit the nearby Bujagali Falls, walk around town, and visit what some others call the "True Source of the Nile" Nile Breweries which is now owned by SAB Miller.
