Decorating your home -African Style

African Decor  for your Home

How to decorate your room with an African Touch

I often get letters asking me about decorating one's home, African Style.  Here are some ideas you might  find helpful to add that bit of Africa to your home. I brought many things with me from Africa, but I have found that if you apply the grazing principle in your shopping you can easily add that bit of Africa investing a reasonable amount of money.

First get a picture in your mind as to what you want to create and everything that you purchase or make must fit into that picture, so that it all flows together in harmony.  In my case, I have added things from the Goodwill to Pier 1 with TJ Max and Ross in between.  I have bought sheets in unlikely places like head shops and gone to a Fabric store to find vases at a most reasonable price.  I bought Mikasa Dishes on a close-out in their Ivory Coast pattern with bamboo shaped silverware added,  I found pictures at the Salvations Army store and a delightful carpet from Cost-Plus Imports.  I did lose out on two auctions trying to buy a 48 inch Zebra Round, but my time will come at Ebay when I win that auction.

I live on the top of the Inn where you see the turret, looks Victorian from the outside, but come on in.I live in a small apartment that is in an 1897 Victorian Bed and Bed Breakfast, but when you enter my domain, there you feel the presence of Mama Africa, but enough with words, let me show you and make comments on each picture as to what I did here.  If you have any questions feel free to write me and I will get back to you.  There are now two pages to look at.
